Animation Options

GMS has always allowed the user to create film loop animations of transient model solutions.  Film loops are saved as *.avi files and can be played back outside of GMS or embedded in other applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint.  In version 5.0, we have added some powerful new film loop options and we have simplified the interface.

Animation Wizard

First of all, the film loop setup processed has now been encapuslated inside a new Animation Wizard.  The Animation Wizard simplifies the animation setup process by presenting the user with only the choices applicable to the selected animation option.

Particle Tracking Animation

We have added a new animation option for particle tracking.  If a particle set has been created for the active MODFLOW simulation, the pathlines associated with the MODFLOW solution can be animated to show the trajectory of the particles vs. time.

Moving View Animation

We have also added a new Moving View animation.  With this option, the user can assign a set of View Options (viewing angle, look at point, window bounds, etc.) to selected frames in the animation.  The viewing parameters are then interpolated between the selected frames.  Moving camera animation can be combined with other types of animation including time step animation and particle tracking animation.
