On the PC, the installation wizard will guide you through the installation process. You will have the option to install different parts of the SMS program including the executable files, tutorial files, documentation files, etc. If you are missing a part of the installation, reinstall and verify that all parts are included.

When you start SMS there are default values set for directories, display options, etc. You can modify these settings and save your own defaults by choosing the Save Current Settings command from the File menu. Each time SMS is launched, it uses the saved settings.
Each project also saves settings associated with the project. Therefore, as a project is read, the values are set to the project settings. The default settings therefore only appear when you are creating new projects.
