Scientific Software Group

EMS-I specializes in hydrogeologic modeling using the most comprehensive groundwater modeling and site analysis system: the GMS software.  GMS provides tools for every phase of a groundwater simulation including site characterization, model development, calibration, post-processing, and visualization. GMS supports both finite-difference and finite-element models in 2D and 3D including MODFLOW 2000, MODPATH, MT3DMS/RT3D, SEAM3D, ART3D, UTCHEM, FEMWATER, PEST, UCODE, MODAEM and SEEP2D.  These models allow saturated and unsaturated flow modeling, contiminant transport and decy modeling, particle tracking, reactive transport modeling, NAPL/DNAPL modeling, density-dependent modeling, analytical element modeling, 2D analytic modeling, seepage modeling, bioremediation modeling, stochastic modeling and risk assessment.  Regardless of your modeling needs, GMS has the tools!

EMS-I specializes in hydrodynamic modeling of rivers, bays, lakes, harbors, and coastal regions using the most advanced surface water modeling: the SMS software.  The Surface Water Modeling System (SMS) is a comprehensive environment for 1D, 2D, and 3D hydrodynamic modeling. A pre- and post-processor for surface water modeling and design, SMS includes finite element, finite difference, and 1D backwater modeling tools. Supported models include the USACE-ERDC supported TABS-MD (GFGEN, RMA2, RMA4), ADCIRC, BOUSS2D, CGWAVE, STWAVE, CMS-Flow, CMS-Wave, and TUFLOW models. Comprehensive interfaces have also been developed for facilitating the use of the FHWA commissioned FESWMS analysis package. The numeric models supported in SMS compute a variety of information applicable to surface water modeling. Primary applications of the models include calculation of water surface elevations and flow velocities for shallow water flow problems, for both steady-state or dynamic conditions. Additional applications include the modeling of contaminant migration, salinity intrusion, sediment transport (scour and deposition), wave energy dispersion, and wave properties (directions, magnitudes and amplitudes).

EMS-I specializes in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of watersheds and rivers using the most comprehensive watershed analysis system: the WMS software.  The Watershed Modeling System (WMS) is a comprehensive graphical modeling environment for all phases of watershed hydrology and hydraulics.  WMS includes powerful tools to automate modeling processes such as automated basin delineation, geometric parameter calculations, GIS overlay computations (CN, rainfall depth, roughness coefficients, etc.), cross-section extraction from terrain data, and many more!  With the release of WMS 7, the software now supports hydrologic modeling with HEC-1 (HEC-HMS), TR-20, TR-55, Rational Method, NFF, MODRAT, and HSPF. Hydraulic models supported include HEC-RAS and CE QUAL W2. 2D integrated hydrology (including channel hydraulics and groundwater interaction) can now be modeled with GSSHA.  All of this in a GIS-based data processing framework will make the task of watershed modeling and mapping easier than ever before.
